TikTok has become an escapism - and the world most visited app, which has fueled the up and rising of TikTok content creators. Cabi’s road to reach her dream as a content creator has only just begun, though.
“I started watching YouTube when I was very young. I’ve always wanted to, but I never really started working towards that path.
"Last year, I just got into filming TikTok videos for fun and had no idea it would get me where I am now,” says the 23-year-old.
When she was filming funny TikTok videos in her room a year ago, she had no idea that she would soon be in Paris, doing what she loves, and attending the merveilleux Garnier's Greener Never Stops event. Alexa, play Blair Waldorff's sound "You might as well be sad in Paris.''
"The best thing is being able to meet so many new people after starting content creation. At first, it was quite weird when I was recognized in public. Woah, people know me!" Cabi chuckles.
She openly shares the story behind her adorable stage moniker, "Cabibibi," as she becomes more at ease during the interview. "I used to be chubby in high school, and it turned into a nickname among my friends. Then, I decided to change the spelling to "Cabibibi" because I had lost weight."
She described herself as a calm and quiet Klang valley girl who, despite her bubbly, extroverted persona on TikTok, may sometimes come off as more introverted at first.
"Whenever people see me in person, they are always very surprised. I’m slow to open up but you’ll get to see my crazy side once we’re close," says her.
When people hear the name Cabibibi, they’d associate her with popular content like the K-POP survival show, the ‘I’m one of the boys’, POV, and popular girl videos.
"I used to do a lot of POVs, which is similar to acting. I often drew inspiration from people around me, how they act, and videos that I find funny, such as Pick Me Girls in class since many people act that way in class.
“I don't think I've ever been in a mean girl situation, but sometimes the content I create reflects my own self, so maybe I am the mean girl!” jokes Cabi.
Thanks to her popularity on TikTok, Cabi feels grateful and happy being a content creator. “I didn’t expect to get job opportunities after getting famous. I feel really happy that my work is getting recognized,” she says.
